The Soul Acoustic tour presents some of the best UK soul singers, places them in an unplugged setting, and allows them to shine.
With a line-up of both established and new talent, these vocalists, musicians and songwriters cut to the quick.
As headliner Terri Walker says: “A tour like this is exactly what is needed right now! Soul Acoustic will give us a chance to do what we do best – perform – and showcase the songs in their natural stripped down state.”
In a career that has seen her work with a diverse range of artists – from UK garage act 187 Lockdown and Shanks and Bigfoot, to Duran Duran, Jamie Cullum and such US heavyweights as Nas, Cee-Lo, Fergie and Jennifer Hudson – Terri continues to push forward.
Ten years on from her acclaimed Mercury Prize-nominated debut album, Untitled, Terri’s latest release is a collection of classic soul-inspired tracks with Nicole Wray under the guise of Lady, while her next solo album (due later this year) has been produced by Salaam Remi (Amy Winehouse).
As the tour makes its way across the UK, Terri will be joined by Ms D, ShezAr, Shakka and Shea.
The elder sister of hitmaker Labrinth, ShezAr has toured with Example and Wretch 32, collaborated with Aiden Grimshaw (Curtain Call and Nothing At All), and currently leads the Urban Development Vocal Collective.
Ms D has contributed to three Wiley singles – Heatwave, Can You Hear Me? and Reload – and was featured vocalist on Chipmunk’s 2009 No1 single Oopsy Daisy, while Shakka contributed to Wretch 32’s Blackout, and numbers Rita Ora and Maverick Sabre among his fans. His ‘Shakappellas’ – all vocal covers of track by Beyonce, Frank Ocean and Kayne West – have proved something of an internet phenomena.
Others joining the seven-date tour include Liverpool’s Kof, Josh Osho (who has appeared alongside Emeli Sande, Rizzle Kicks, Jessie J, Gabrielle Aplin, Ne-Yo and Tom Jones), the scat singing Call Me Unique, Jamie Joseph and Kaleem Taylor.
