West Midlands based singer-songwriter DAN WHITEHOUSE is set is release his second album, Reaching For A State Of Mind, on Monday 7 October 2013.
Much in demand, Dan has shared stages with such artists as Willy Mason, Joseph Arthur, Caitlin Rose and Josh Ritter, plus blues guitar legend Peter Green, chart-topper Maria McKee, folk star Jim Moray, ex-Teardrop Explodes Julian Cope and the Grammy winning World Party. He’s also performed sell-out headline shows throughout the UK.
Featuring eleven new songs, including the sublime A Dream That’s Floating Out To Sea, the album represents a bold step forward for the songwriter, introducing a more expansive, full bodied sound. Questioning, observing, it’s filled with optimism and self-doubt, as central characters attempt to find their place in the world.
The album was recorded with producer/ musician/ collaborator Michael Clarke, steel guitarist PJ Wright (Fairport Convention), The Old Dance School’s Helen Lancaster (viola and violin) and with significant input from percussionist Chip Bailey (Duke Special), whose use of ‘stump fiddle’, pots and pans adds a distinctive rhythmical sound to Dan’s songs.
“Lyrics which involuntarily swerve your gaze to the sky” – Music Week

“Sensational” – Tom Robinson/ BBC 6 Music
