Megan Henwood

Acclaimed Oxfordshire songwriter Megan Henwood headlines a special Towersey Festival 50th Anniversary launch at Thame’s The First Thursday Music Club.

BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winner Megan’s debut solo album, Making Waves was released in 2012 to great acclaim and featured contributions from such guests as Joe and Sam Brown, Steve Marriott’s daughter Mollie, Steeleye Span’s Peter Knight, and one-time Jethro Tull member Barrie Barlow.

Though clearly inspired by folk music, Megan cites Bill Withers, Anaïs Mitchell, the late Elliott Smith and several leading Nepalese musicians as inspiration, while she’s also shared stages with the likes of Eric Bibb, Ray Davies, Cara Dillon and Julie Fowlis.

Her forthcoming second album is entitled Head Heart Hand.

“Comparisons to Laura Marling are too hard to resist but she does have a fabulous voice and some fire in her belly which should propel her near the top!” – Mojo

“… one of the county’s greatest vocal talents… Sublime.” – Oxford Mail

Hosted by Oxfordshire’s premier free monthly music club, the evening also includes a a screening of a special Towersey 50th film and a line-up of great local talent.
