Birmingham Bach Choir has secured funding for two bursaries to support both the development of the choir and the development of promising student tenors.
The tenors will have the opportunity to work with Birmingham’s leading large chamber choir and benefit from the training given by internationally renowned conductor, tutor, composer and author Paul Spicer.
The bursaries are open to tenors under the age of 30 who have student status. They run from October 2014 – July 2015 and are for £500 each. Successful applicants will be required to participate in the choir’s major concerts, which are on Saturdays 29 November, 28 March, 27 June and 4 July, and will also be required to attend a minimum of 75% of regular Wednesday evening rehearsals (in Birmingham) – to include the final rehearsal prior to a major concert, and additionally the pre‐concert rehearsal on performance day.
Bursary students will be expected to fund, from their bursary payments, purchase of necessary music for each concert programme and any other incidental items such as choir folders and concert dress, together with necessary travel costs and similar.
Birmingham Bach Choir is one of the UK’s leading chamber choirs, with members coming from across the West Midlands region. Their recent WW1 anniversary commission, Unfinished Remembering, premiered at Birmingham Symphony Hall to great acclaim.
Final deadline for bursary applications is Friday 31 October 2014, 10am.
