TVAA takes centre stage as Festival’s charity partner

Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA)

Thames Valley Air Ambulance has been chosen as the charity partner for this year’s Towersey Festival, which takes place in the heart of Oxfordshire from Friday 26 – Monday 29 August 2016.

One of the UK’s longest running music festivals, Towersey Festival inputs nearly a quarter of a million pounds into the local economy each year, as well as supporting a number of local causes.

For 2016 Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA), which is the dedicated air ambulance service for the region, will be the sole charity partner for the four-day event.

Ruth Dunkin, Senior Fundraising Manager for TVAA, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as Towersey Festival’s charity partner – as the largest music event in the region, the support in raising more funds and awareness for us will be invaluable.

“We plan to be at the festival throughout the whole weekend and hope to have a special visit by our air ambulance helicopter and crew! Thames Valley Air Ambulance is completely funded by the local community and it is thanks to their generosity that we are able to develop our service to ensure we are continuously providing the best possible medical expertise to those who need it most, wherever they are.”

Towersey Festival Director Joe Heap said: “As a charity, Thames Valley Air Ambulance can only continue to support the communities of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire with the generous help of the public.

“So we’re thrilled to be able to offer our support to the organisation, and encourage all attending the festival over the August Bank Holiday to find out about their invaluable work in saving lives.”

Towersey Festival runs from Friday 26 to Monday 29 August 2016 at Thame Showground, Thame, Oxfordshire. Highlights include appearances from Billy Bragg, Kate Rusby, The Wonder Stuff, Midge Ure, the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, and an expanded programme of family-friendly and children’s activities.

There’s also street theatre, workshops for all ages, real ale and cider, gourmet street food, films and spoken word.

About Thames Valley Air Ambulance

Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA) has evolved into one of the UK’s leading air ambulance charities and is pushing the boundaries of medical intervention, helicopter aviation and on-scene patient care to deliver a unique life-saving service to patients, where and when it is most needed.

Our doctor and paramedic crews are able to deliver an advanced level of critical care to stabilise patients, identify their medical needs and get them to the most appropriate hospital for specialist care in the shortest time possible.

Medical innovations on board have advanced from basic medical kits to a full range of life-saving equipment. TVAA was the first air ambulance in the UK to carry a hospital standard blood analysis machine, vital for speeding up diagnosis and helping to shave off valuable seconds in the golden hour.

The service is supported by the communities of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire and it is thanks to their generosity that we can continue to develop and improve our life-saving capabilities.
