A new retail business in Nottingham has taken a novel, and theatrical, approach to selling its wares.
Based in Kimerbley, the just opened TuTu Perfect specialises in dancewear and performance related goods, including leotards, shoes and accessories for all ages and styles of dance.
But what makes visiting TuTu Perfect unique is its presentation – which is just as flamboyant as its stock!
With an antique-styled chaise longue, theatre spot-lights and curtains, the theatricality extends to the changing rooms, which have been renamed ‘backstage’.
There’s also an illuminated theatre dressing room-styled mirror, a try out ballet barre for practising your points, and a dressing-up box.
The TuTu Perfect Emporium has been created by the husband and wife team of Claire and Joe Heap.
Both have a background in the performing arts, having met at drama school, they’ve subsequently worked as professional actors and dancers.
With TuTu Perfect, their desire was to create an environment that inspires and excites dancers and performers, combining professionalism and expertise with an air of “theatrical silliness.”
“Our aim is to provide great dancewear in a fun and exciting way that makes people want to come back, smile and enjoy shopping with us,” says Claire, a graduate of New College Nottingham (NCN) and Guildford School of Acting. “We are both theatrical people and love the idea of a place to shop for dance goodies that’s just fun and beautiful.”
The shop stocks a range of standard dance products from major suppliers and selected in partnership with leading dance school owners. All major dance styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and ballroom, are catered for, alongside services such as shoe fitting. A costume service, TuTu Making, is also available (in-store and online soon).
