Jeff Buckley: From Hallelujah To The Last Goodbye
Manager and Author Dave Lory Announces Interactive Q&A Book Tour Date
Thursday 20 September 2018, The Glee Club, Birmingham
For the first time since Jeff Buckley’s tragic death on May 29, 1997, his manager Dave Lory finally talks about what it was like working with one of the most revered and critically celebrated artists in rock and roll history with the release of his book, Jeff Buckley From Hallelujah To The Last Goodbye (Post Hill Press/Penguin) written with Jim Irvin.
Alongside the book’s publication, Lory offers a behind the scenes look at the book and inside the manager/ artist relationship titled: An Interactive Q&A With Dave Lory, Jeff Buckley’s Manager and Author, Jeff Buckley From Hallelujah To The Last Goodbye.
Visiting Birmingham’s Glee Club on 20 September 2018, Lory’s talk will cover the journey of Buckley’s rise to success from the release of his EP Live at Sin-e, his debut album Grace and the subsequent three years – including that tragic week when Jeff Buckley disappeared into the murky waters of the Mississippi river and Lory got the call… “Jeff is missing.”
Discussing Jeff’s tragic passing, Lory added: “Have I ever wondered if I could have done more for him? Yes. I thought about it every day for many years after his death. I couldn’t bear to listen to his music, until recently. It was too painful. I went through all the stages of bereavement with the added weight of responsibility.”
The show will consist of three thirty minute segments that will include questions from the audience at the end of each, and Lory will be on hand to sign copies of the book after the Q&A sessions for the fans.
“I am so excited to meet with Jeff Buckley’s fans worldwide and interact with them about what it was like working with this iconic artist,” Lory exclaims.

NOTES FOR EDITORS
One of the most influential artists of the decade, Jeff – the son of cult 1960s singer-songwriter Tim Buckley (who also died young) – made his name with the 1994 album Grace, which featured his hushed recording of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. The album was Mojo magazine’s Best Album of The Year (beating releases by Blur, Nirvana and Oasis).
