The Glee Club Birmingham’s Comedy Carousel has won Best Midlands Comedy Night in the What’s On Readers’ Awards 2019 … for the third year running!

Created by Birmingham-based comic (and resident host) Andy Robinson, with behind the scenes help from Adam Jaremko, Comedy Carousel combines leading comedians and new acts with the best bits from the weird world of the web.

Fast paced and spontaneous, the format has attracted a loyal following in the city, thanks to Andy and Adam’s quick thinking and guest appearances from such acts as James Acaster, The Boy With Tape On His Face, Ed Gamble, Jen Brister, Geoff Norcott and Suzi Ruffell.

Accepting the award, Andy said: “I’d like to thank all the acts and especially our audience who come every week, as well as all the readers who voted.”

Comedy Carousel’s win arrives in the same week The Glee also picked up two Chortle Awards – for Best Venue In The Midlands (Birmingham) and Best Venue In Wales and The West (Cardiff).

Mark Tughan, founder of The Glee Club, said: “We think that pushes our total Chortle Award wins up to 23, which is fantastic. We’re always thrilled to win, and never rest on our laurels.”

Earlier this year, the club opened its fifth venue, The Glee Club Glasgow, to great acclaim, and later this summer will celebrate the Birmingham club’s 20th anniversary.

Comedy Carousel is at The Glee Club, Birmingham, on Thursday nights. For more details, see:
