Renowned theatre technician Trevor Lewis steps out from behind the sound-desk to present some of his favourite comedians for A Stand-Up for The Mystery Hour.
But who will they be?
After spending over a decade crewing for some of the biggest names in comedy and music as they toured the UK and internationally, Australian roadie and tech’ Trevor has decided it’s about time to go on tour himself.
However, he won’t be stepping out into the limelight himself as he presses speed-dial and calls in a few favours to introduce some of his famous comedy friends.
Fresh from a successful run at The Edinburgh Fringe, where Trevor had special guests queuing up to appear, there’s no clues as to who he’ll be bringing – it is, as the show title suggests, a total mystery that will only be revealed on the night!
But whoever appears, he assures everyone that it will be a suitably acclaimed comedian from the UK and international circuit – you may even recognise them from TV!
Born and raised in Adelaide, Australia, Trevor became a roadie at 17 when he worked for Midnight Oil. Gaining a reputation as the “guy to go to” he quickly began working with acts all over Australia and internationally, becoming a trusted roadie and confidant for everyone from country legend Dolly Parton to Goth superstar Marilyn Manson, The Hilltop Hoods, and many others.
Says Trevor: “When Marilyn met me he took the p*** out of my dodgy tattoo, it’s on my arm, don’t panic, and we bonded quickly. I think I’m the only bloke that can call him Mazza.
“When Dolly said she wanted to paint the town red I made sure she had a blast on a crazy night out in Sydney. I even knew where to get her grits at 3am.”
Moving to the UK a decade ago, Trevor’s continued to work with well-known bands when asked – from Leicester’s Kasabian to West Mids’ Ocean Colour Scene – but has branched out to work with many leading comedians, often beginning with their Edinburgh Fringe shows before accompanying them as they perform at major theatres, arenas and arts centres from Penzance to Inverness.
Encouraged by his famous friends and bulging address book, he’s now made the decision to go out with his Mystery Stand-Up show.
“I love the fact that no-one knows who’ll be appearing at my show until the lights go down,” says Trevor. “That element of mystery is such a thrill, mate. Gives ’em a chance to discover someone they may not have chosen to see! Whatever happens, whoever appears, the audience get an hour of great comedy, that’s for sure.”
Trevor Lewis presents: A Stand-Up for The Mystery Hour is a Gareth Berliner Production in association with Discerning Nights.
