Ensuring a family-friendly festival with Big Fish Little Fish, outdoor activities, kids portions and more.
There’s plenty to keep those little festival-goers occupied at Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival this July.
The boutique festival sees headline appearances from The Specials, The Fatback Band, Al Mckay’s Earth Wind and Fire Experience, De La Soul and The Wailers over the weekend of Friday 8 to Sunday 10 July 2022.
But the family-friendly annual event continues to welcome all ages with DrumnBounce (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), who combine classic aerobic moves with classic drum’n’bass tunes, and the disco-powered SoFunk Dance Fitness (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), while the now legendary Big Fish Little Fish (BFLF) will be hosting a very special Mostly event on Sunday. Rave specialists for those under eight years old (and their adults), the award-winning BFLF have previously wowed younger festival-goers at such major events as Glastonbury and Kendal Calling.
Meanwhile, there’s plenty of other outdoor games and activities too, including face painting and glitter, ping pong tables, hula hoops and tug of war, and enough safe yet open space for the young to run off any excess energy.
And while picnics are welcome, the several of the leading street food vendors, such as Brumi Food and Bope Kebabs, will be serving specials smaller/ lite / ‘kids size portions’, while there’s also plenty of tempting sweet treats from Shepard’s Ice Cream and Bournville Waffle Co.
With baby changing facilities on-site, it’s also worth noting that all those under the age of 12 go free (with a paying adult).
John Fell, Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival Manager said: “Although we’ve always been popular with families, our family offer has often been over-shadowed by the headline acts. So this year, we’re shining a bit more of a light on what we have lined up for those ravers of the future.”
BFLF’s Sophie Parekh said: “The original family rave, Big Fish Little Fish, is bringing legendary DJ Glenn Aston (Flashback, Raindance) to Mostly Jazz, Funk and Soul! Expect a 90-minute vinyl mix of epic rave classics on a dancefloor filled with bubbles, snow foam, balloons and a giant parachute finale! Kids can also delve into a free craft activity to make their very own rave crown to really get into the festival spirit.”
Mostly Jazz Funk and Soul Festival runs from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 July 2022 at Moseley Park and Pool, in the Birmingham suburb of Moseley. A stunning, almost hidden park venue with a limited capacity.
